Movies of the Day: One Day & Lost Valentine

These two movies captured me most among all the movies I've watched these past 2 days: One Day, and Lost Valentine. They let me reflect about life and love. About not giving up. I would highly recommend this to anyone. I hope it could inspire others the way it has inspired me.

Favorite lines...

ONE DAY:
Emma: I love you, Dex, so much. I just don't like you anymore. I'm sorry.

LOST VALENTINE:
Caroline Thomas: Oh I don't much believe in meantime, life happens in real-time.
Caroline Thomas: 'I don't believe in giving up on things'

Dec 4: Reminiscent of Childhood

Today's Kris Kringle is something reminiscent of childhood and again it comes with a quote: "smile is a curve that sets everything straight"

Dec 3: Something for Private Use

This is the kris kringle I got for Dec. 3 with a bonus quote: "hope is when physically you're standing in your trial, but spiritually you're already part of it"

Dec 2: Christmas Tree of Yarns

I was making string dolls today and these yarns were scattered all over the room. Then I played with them and formed them into a Christmas Tree :).

Dec 1: Moon Buns

I'm big fan of Moon Yen from deviantart. She makes the cutest moon bun in the planet! They are just small and simple amigurumis but deadly cute. My artistic instinct worked yesterday and I was able to make my own moon buns using my own pattern. I wanted to make 6 of them so I could give them to my friends as a Christmas gift.

Here are the first 3 moon buns I've made so far...

Calcifer Plush Doll

It's already December! Look how fast time flies. Next week we will be starting our Kris Kringle and we have some guidelines to follow. We must bring something that's in the list. So here's what we've agreed:

something...

Dec 3 - for private use
Dec 4 - reminiscent of childhood
Dec 5 - you need to insert
Dec 6 - handmade
Dec 7 - u can use after a year
Dec 10 - healthy
Dec 11 - dirty
Dec 12 - you don't want to own
Dec 13 - scary
Dec 14 - 80's
Dec 17 - starts with letter L
Dec 18 - boring
Dec 19 - nerdy
Dec 20 - serious
Dec 21 - weird

This is really hard. My mind is not working. I can't think of anything to bring with those "something" stuff on the list. The only thing I'm sure is the "something handmade". So yesterday, I made a Calcifer plush doll. It is inspired from this picture which I found online: Calcifer plush doll.

I hope my manito/manita would love it.

Totoro felt phone case

I just thought I should do something new..some new craft and so i decided to try making a felt phone case. I've seen cute pictures of felt phone case online and it inspired me to make one.

Materials:
*felt
*leatherette
*eyes
*yarn

used these for totoro's and dust bunny's eyes

front
back

I used leatherette for the outer part and felt for the inner part(to protect the phone from scratches). The reason why I used leatherette is that if I use felt alone, the phone case would easily be destroyed because it is not as thick like the ones I see online.

Before trying this craft, I thought I could sell it but after finishing it, I've decided not to. It didn't turn out well and I'm not confident about it. So I will just stick to my string dolls for now and try to search another craft that I could do and sell online :).

My dolls were featured!

This is an old news but I was too lazy to blog it then and just feel like blogging it now. This is about my string dolls - the only thing I can brag about.

Remember the Alice in Wonderland string doll set? Someone from Etsy commissioned me to make just Alice and Mad Hatter for a birthday party. Well it was not just an ordinary birthday party. It's a themed party by Kalice Events. The theme was Alice in Wonderland obviously. I was so happy when the client got back to me and informed me that my string dolls were featured on their blog. That was really a cool party and my string dolls were part of it. I was so proud. :)

Another blogger Made By a Human also featured my string dolls. This time the Princess Mononoke Set. How sweet! :)
